I used to steer clear of cleansing oils until I finally decided to invest in the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil and its worked wonders for me. You might have seen my viral tiktok video about pulling sebum, blackheads and whiteheads from my face just from rubbing the cleansing oil into my face for 30 minutes, and that experiment completely sold me to always use my Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil (I’ll show it to you in a bit).

Why I first bought the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil

Firstly, Shu Uemura is a brand name from Japan and its known for its exceptional ingredients but not just that, Shu Uemura was one of the first global brands to launch its specialized cleansing oil called “unmask” meaning they were the first ones to break into the cleansing oil market.

I would assume they’ve had the most time to work on their formulation and I didn’t mind paying the extra money to ensure that I had a quality skincare product. I was also very hesitant to put oil on my already oily face after all the bad experiences I’ve had before.

I Like How Big The Bottle Is

It’s funny, but then you realize, I’m not joking. The bottle is massive. A lot of popular cleansing oils like the DHC cleansing oil is only 6.7oz big, whilst Shu Uemura is 15.2oz.

So while it is more expensive, maybe that’s because it’s more than twice the size of other popular cleansing oils.

Klairs Deep Cleansing Oil is also about 5.07oz so if you do a lot of oil cleansing like me, it’s nice to have a big bottle that will last for a while.

How The Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Has Helped Me

You might have seen my viral TikTok video about pulling sebum, blackheads and whiteheads from my face just from rubbing the cleansing oil into my face for 30 minutes, and that experiment and if not, have a look. (BTW it’s a little gross to some people who don’t like sebum, because I literally oil pull blackheads from my face).

it’s a little ‘ew’ but also fascinating

Which Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil I’ve Used (And How To Pick One)

The best thing about Shu Uemura is all the different kinds of cleansing oils they have for different skin types or if you have different skincare needs you want to target. They have specific cleansing oils for anti-aging, dry skin, skin discoloration, skin brightening & more. Whatever it is they have a facial oil for your skin type.

1. Shu Uemura Ultime 8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil

This is an all-rounder I would say, on their website they literally say it’s for, “global skin concerns.” Meaning it’s really for everyone. It feels buttery smooth when you put it on and just melts away at any oil based dirt and sebum that is on your face.

2. Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi+ Pollutant & Dullness Clarifying Cleansing Oil

This was actually the first Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil I bought. I thought it was the best for me because I do have dull skin and considering that I have acne prone skin, meaning I have scars, I wanted my oil cleanser to give me antioxidants to help my skin tone brighten up a little. It definitely feels refreshing in comparison to the Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil which feels a little bit more heavy, but it really boils down to personal preference. 🙂
